The whole point of this is so that you can see who has the best combination of speed and ball control. If he did it without the ball then it would be pointless because the highest pace would always win.
I don’t think this is an accurate way of funding out speed because ball control is also a factor since some players know how to space the ball from themselves wen sprinting than others.
I’m not sure if you are saying best dribbler out of all the players in the test , or the best dribbler in the game , Messi has 96 dribbling and Neymar has 95 , just letting you know.
play football and you’ll understand. Ball control plays a big role. If you played you would know that running with the ball slows you down. Of course if they were racing without the ball the highest sprint speed and acceleration would win.
The fair way to test this is using these players without a ball at their feet simply because even though players like ronaldo, bale and Neymar did not have the greatest stats by far, their dribbling and ball control allowed them to take better, more precise touches and get them over the line quicker.
